SW 130 Essay Assignment

Assignment: Read the Functions of Poverty by Herbert Gans. Go over R.A. 8425 Social Reform and Poverty Alleviation Act (Dec. 11, 1997) Write an essay on Welfare and Poverty, discussing different perspectives on poverty and poverty reduction policies or frameworks. Why is poverty the enemy? Or is it? How would you discuss welfare from the context of social development and from the context of social policy. (Please see also The Right to Welfare by T.H.
